Sunfire Has Made It Into the “Hall of Fame”

Dresden, November 10, 2022 | For seven consecutive years, Sunfire has been among the Global Cleantech 100 – the most innovative and promising companies that can take us from commitments to actions in our global efforts to reach net-zero.

The Global Cleantech 100 list combines Cleantech Group’s research data with qualitative judgements from nominations and insight from a global, 85-member expert panel of leading investors and executives from corporations and industrials.

As Sunfire has been permanently represented in the Global Cleantech 100 for seven years, the Dresden-based electrolysis specialist has now been inducted into the “Hall of Fame”. Carl Berninghausen accepted the award at the Cleantech Forum Europe.

In his speech, he looked back at the development Sunfire has taken in recent years:

“A lot has happened since we were first included in the Global Cleantech 100: We are no longer a startup, but manufacture electrolyzers for industrial customers such as RWE or Uniper,” said Carl Berninghausen, Executive Chairman and co-founder of Sunfire.

Another company operating in Saxony was inducted into the Hall of Fame this year: Skeleton Technologies. The Estonian company operates Europe’s largest and most modern factory for supercapacitors in Dresden.

“The Global Cleantech 100 Hall of Fame represents the cream of the crop,” said Richard Youngman, CEO of Cleantech Group. “Both Skeleton Technologies and Sunfire have consistently exceeded their commitments to innovation in bringing us closer to our net-zero goal.”

In addition to Sunfire, 13 other companies are part of the “Hall of Fame.” Once inducted into this circle, they will no longer appear on the annual Global Cleantech 100 list in the future.
